C. M. Slayter is a representative of the business interests of Plymouth, engaged
in the grocery and queensware trade, and he has also been a life-long resident
of Marshall county. His birth occurred in tits township of West December 4, 1852,
the youngest of three sons of William Slayter, one of the best known of the early
pioneers of Marshall county. As a youth he attened the district schools of the
neighborhood and assisted his father with the work of the farm, remaining at
home until he had reached the age of maturity, and from that time until the year
